Words can’t fully describe how this place moves you

The migration of Muttonbirds’ (Short-tailed Shearwater) is a spectacular 30,000km round journey to islands near Alaska, yes Alaska as in Canada!! They glide up to 600km a day by ‘shearing’ (a series of long glides after gaining height to conserve vital energy).

October to April thousands swarm to this limestone bed of burrows for breeding in the Bass Strait waters that are warming up as well as small fish & animal plankton food is becoming abundant.
