ANCIENT rainforest board walk

GREAT OTWAY NATIONAL PARK, VICTORIA

step inside the otway’s national park jewel for a moment

TO FEEL LIKE YOU’RE IN ANOTHER WORLD… OR TIME

Loose yourself inside a cool-temperate ancient rainforest with giant Mountain Ash gum & Myrtle Beech trees towering over ancient tree ferns and a moss-covered forest floor.

Spot the endemic carnivorous Otway Black Snail (I have found after fresh rain!) & look out for secretive long-nosed potoroos foraging in the leaf litter.

This 800 metre long boardwalk loop will transport you to another world feeling, yet it’s only minutes inside the Great Otways National Park after leaving Apollo Bay.

This lesser-known place along the Great Ocean Road is a real highlight of the tour… we love it & find guests unsuspectingly do too!

Leaving Apollo Bay the view quickly changes inland to lush forests with the road enveloped in its canopy, as the Great Ocean Road veers into the countryside.

As you step off the bus you’re immediately hit in the face with the still dense air, so fresh! This is a cool-temperate rainforest you’ve just stepped inside & you’ll feel like you’re in another world.

We guide you around this boardwalk loop, takes about 20 minutes or so strolling & stopping to take pictures while we share details of the Mountain Ash big beauties towering over you & the dewy tree ferns.
