about the food on ‘ultimate’ tour

We get it, food’s important

you want to know the details - so here is the whole day plan

Morning juice & Anzac biscuits are provided by us, plus free tastings at the Chocolaterie - all other food & drinks for the day is at your choice & cost to enjoy it your way at the places we visit for various tastes, dietaries & your travel budgets. We make thoughtful stops in the day to allow plenty of options.

Your snacks on-board the bus are fine throughout the day - just leave out the stinky stuff so you can still make new friends!

morning refreshment

We know its early when you board & may not have had breakfast - don’t worry, we’ve got your back ;)

Juice & Anzac biscuits morning snack: your new mate (aka your tour Guide) has traditional oat recipe biscuits for you from do-good NFP disability support brand Aussie Biscuits so we can teach you about our Anzac heritage before visiting the Memorial Arch today (as well as it being very tasty!) For Gluten-free or Vegan guests we will have an alternative for you.

We visit the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery for a chance to buy real barista coffee, gourmet hot chocolate or tea just the way you like it, or maybe try something fancy… they have a huge selection of chocolate & food snacks you can munch on or take for the day ahead. As this is a brief stop on the ‘ultimate’ tour the full cafe food menu isn’t available (it would take too long to make) so please select from the Good To Go menu below that will be available for pre-order by QR code while travelling out of the city so its ready for you to enjoy when you arrive.

There’s absolutely no pressure to buy anything here & they offer us free tastings of ice-cream & chocolate drops like dark, milk, white, caramel & ruby.

Also, if you want to pack a (non-smelly) breakfast traveller pack to enjoy please do so in the lovely gardens as you’re welcome to (but no BYO food inside the chocolaterie of course).

LUNCH

Lunchtime on the ‘ultimate’ tour is at a seaside town called Apollo Bay - you have free-time to go off & choose from a selection of traders what you’d like to have, there are some really great options here - either sit down to dine from a menu or grab ready-made or take-away to the foreshore picnic seats, or the beach, just watch the pesky seagulls don’t pinch it!

There is also a chemist & small supermarket for staples or to grab snacks for the return journey back to Melbourne.

All options are along the main street so you can walk along to view before you select, but listed here are just some of the options if you’d like to get excited about the awesome nosh!

  • Apollo Bay bakery cafe - a great selection of seafood (speciality), or meat, or veggie pies/ hot take-away as well as fresh salad rolls & sandwiches including vegan options. Good barista coffee & decadent cakes & slices - this place has wholesome food to sit down at tables or its quick to grab to take to the beach if you are going for a wander.

  • Asian noodle cafe Chopstix will take up your time as ordering from a menu fresh, but its worth it!

  • George’s cafeteria style fish n’ chips with fresh salad picked by Nona, or souvlaki & other menu items including coffee.

  • wanting to try the local caught delicacy? Then head to the Fishermans Co-Op market fresh seafood & local crayfish (lobster) at the harbour jetty (closed Mondays).

  • who can resist award-winning ice-cream to finish off with? Dooley’s even make Vegemite flavour!

afternoon refreshment

Late afternoon, as we have been visiting the National Park lookouts in the elements, at the 12 Apostles site kiosk you can grab snacks & drinks (card only) maybe a local made Timboon ice-cream & re-fill the water bottle before we journey back to the city.

Or maybe enjoy the chocolaterie delights you picked up this morning for the journey home…

DINNER

We return to Melbourne around 7:30 to 8pm (conditions permitting) for hotel drop-offs & for your own dinner arrangements after the tour.

You can exit the bus at any of the places we’re already going to along our booked city route, ask your Guide (before the drive back of course) which will be the closest to your restaurant, or public transport to get there.
