dairy farming is prevelent as we travel through the countryside to return to melbourne
The Colac Otway region has 15 small towns & rural communities spread across it to provide a lifestyle choice for those looking for a quieter life through either a sea change or tree change.
Diverse industries range from tourism and hospitality in the landscapes, to agriculture such as dairy, beef, boutique farming & food enterprises, to sustainable timber production.
Colac is also home to international food processors Bulla Dairy Foods (more great ice-cream & staple products found on mainstream supermarket shelves), the Australian Lamb Company and Australia’s second largest softwood processor AKD. Significant employers include the region’s quality health service providers.
Colac is the major retail centre of all these towns, with large stores and franchises as well as unique small businesses, while farmgate sales across the shire showcase locally-grown produce.
