LUNCH

The seaside town of Lorne has plenty of lunch options - too many to list here so check out the link to either sit down to dine from a menu or grab take-aways to the foreshore grass or beach for a picnic, just watch the pesky seagulls don’t pinch it!

Its a late afternoon lunch (unless you opted to not see the waterfall for more time in the town or Live Wire adventure park) or you may have had plenty of food already at the Chocolaterie or Torquay so don’t need to eat here again & are free for activities instead - whatever you choose on your day :)

All food options are along the main town street & beach so you can just walk along to view before you select, its a bit of a walk for all options but you don’t have to go far to get great nosh!

Note some restuarants may require booking in advance, especially for groups.

There’s also wine-tasting available at St Anne’s if you’d like to check out a local drop.

about the food on ‘taste’ tour

We get it, food’s important (you’ve picked a good tour if that’s the case)

& you want to know the details - so here is the whole day plan

Morning juice & Anzac biscuits are provided by us, plus free tastings at the Chocolaterie - all other food & drinks for the day is at your choice & cost to enjoy it your way at the places we visit for various tastes, dietaries & your travel budgets. We make thoughtful stops in the day to allow plenty of options for you.

You can bring your own food if you prefer - just leave out the stinky stuff! It also needs to fit in a soft cooler bag at your feet or on your lap (there’s no storage compartment on the bus).

morning refreshment & brunch

You don’t need to worry about having breakfast before this early tour!

Juice & Anzac biscuits/cookies morning snack at Torquay beach: your new mate (aka your tour Guide) has packed for you traditional oat recipe biscuits from do-good NFP disability support brand Aussie Biscuits so we can teach you about the Anzac heritage before visiting the Memorial Arch today (as well as it being very tasty!) For Gluten-free or Vegan guests we will have an alternative for you.

Also in Torquay you have the choice of staying on the foreshore beach with lovely cafe’s to sit for coffee or have brunch at, or you’ll find take-away food & drinks to enjoy on the beach or a coastal walk. Some local fave’s are Bomboras or Pond Cafe and if you walk up to Rocky Point on the coast there is usually a coffee kiosk open before you get to the SLSClub.

In Torquay if you choose to leave the beach to go to the Surfing Museum & Plaza shops precinct there’s still great cafe’s in that area like Sticks & Stones, Big Things Little Things or Ginger Monkey next to the back-door surf brand sale outlets.

If you’re not hungry first up no stress (or if you spent all your time in Torquay walking the coast, visiting the National Surfing Museum or shopping…) as shortly after we stop at the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery and they have a huge selection of gourmet chocolate, pastries & food snacks plus a full cafe menu (see their website for details), or fancy drinks to indulge in.

You may want to energise with a quick brunch here or an early lunch if you plan on making the most of your afternoon in Lorne doing other energetic things instead of eating.

There’s absolutely no pressure to buy anything here & they give free ice-cream & chocolate tastings including dark, milk, white, caramel or ruby.

If you brought your own food today you’re welcome to enjoy it in the lovely gardens here (but no BYO food inside the chocolaterie of course).

DINNER

We return to Melbourne around 5:30pm (conditions permitting) for hotel drop-offs & for your own dinner arrangements after the tour.

You can exit the bus at any of the places we’re already going to along our booked city route, ask your guide (before the drive back of course) which will be the closest to your restaurant, or public transport to get there.
